Hands-on engineering for networks and servers
Project support for Michigan businesses that need a network, firewall, server or virtualization change carried through to verification.
For work that crosses system boundaries
Intermittent connectivity, a server migration and a remote-access failure rarely fit neatly into one vendor’s queue. TLI investigates the path between users, network controls, servers and applications, then scopes the change around the actual failure.
This service is available alongside your internal team or current provider. Responsibilities and access are agreed before implementation.
Engineering work we can scope
- Network troubleshooting, switching, routing and firewall configuration.
- Remote-access and segmentation changes with explicit allowed and denied paths.
- Windows and Linux server work, virtualization and infrastructure maintenance.
- Server migrations with dependency checks, maintenance planning and rollback.
- Backup configuration, recovery preparation and scoped restore testing.
- Documentation of system ownership, configuration changes and unresolved dependencies.
Before the change
We identify the exact system and the behavior being changed. A current configuration export or backup is useful only if it covers the affected state and can be read. We also establish how access can be recovered if the change interrupts the normal management path.
For a migration, that means understanding application dependencies, DNS, certificates, accounts and backup jobs before moving the workload. For a firewall change, it means pinning the source, destination, service and expected outcome.
After the change
Verification follows the user’s actual path where possible. A running service is not proof that a remote user can connect. A saved configuration is not proof that the traffic policy works. The report distinguishes a local check, a remote check and any test that could not be completed.
Evidence from our own systems
Our internal server engineering example covers management integration, host controls and backup checks. It also states what was not demonstrated. We apply that same distinction when documenting a customer engagement, without exposing another client’s infrastructure.
Define a finish line
Bring the system type, the current symptom, business impact and any deadline. We will identify the access and recovery prerequisites, agree on a maintenance window where needed, and define the checks required for completion.
