Technology leadership connected to implementation
For Michigan SMBs that need recurring technical direction, vendor oversight and a realistic roadmap without creating a full-time leadership position.
When support alone does not answer the next question
Your support provider may keep systems running while decisions about replacement, security spending and business applications remain unresolved. Fractional CTO work gives those decisions an owner and a recurring place in the business conversation.
TLI’s offering focuses on business IT, infrastructure and operational technology decisions. It suits organizations that need to prioritize investments and coordinate delivery across staff and vendors.
What the engagement can include
- A review of the current environment and the business plans it needs to support.
- A technology roadmap ordered by dependencies, risk and business value.
- Vendor and proposal reviews, including responsibilities that remain with your organization.
- Replacement and lifecycle planning, with budget assumptions made explicit.
- Regular review of open projects, security findings and recovery readiness.
- Oversight of implementation and a clear record of decisions and next actions.
How leadership and delivery work together
We establish the decision scope, meeting cadence and the people who retain budget and business authority. The first work product is a shared set of priorities, not a long list of products to purchase.
Recurring reviews track whether decisions turned into completed work. TLI can provide engineering or managed IT under an agreed service scope, or coordinate with your existing team. Advisory time does not automatically include unlimited support or every implementation project.
The relationship with Nate Howard’s practice
Nate Howard is TLI’s founder and principal engineer. His individual advisory site presents his technology leadership perspective and specialist work. Third Level IT is the service-delivery business for organizations that need that direction connected to ongoing IT operations and hands-on engineering.
The two sites describe related work from different starting points. You can contact TLI to discuss a combined operational and leadership engagement without having to select a separate provider for each question.
